Network Architecture

  • The network of OTE Rural South consists of a number of autonomous sub-networks.
  • Each autonomous sub-network consists of access and optical fiber backhaul network, as well as of the RIX (Rural Internet Exchange), to which the network nodes (Access Aggregation Multiplexing Nodes) are connected.

In detail, each sub-network includes the following elements:

  • Access Network: It ensures high speeds of wholesale broadband access -Bitstream services (up to 50/30 Mbps) to the end users through OTE Sub-loop network (Sub LLU).
  • Access Aggregation Multiplexing Node (Rural Access Node): VDSL2 DSLAM serving a settlement (or multiple settlements in some cases).
  • Backhaul Network: It connects the Access Aggregation Multiplexing Nodes with the Rural Internet Exchange (RIX).
  • RIX: It is the main interconnection point of third-party Providers with OTE Rural South network
