Ethernet Services (Level 2)

  • It refers to the provision of Ethernet based leased lines, of high capacity and guaranteed quality, for interconnection of:
    • Providers with their sub-networks
    • Providers with their Business Customers

More specifically, they can be distinguished in the following services:

  • “Ethernet Backhaul” service: It refers to the provision of Ethernet based symmetrical lines for the transmission of data to the Backhaul network between the settlement’s Access Node and the settlement’s RIX.

  • “Ethernet End User” service: It refers to the provision of Ethernet based symmetrical lines for the connection of the end user’s or provider’s POP that is located in the coverage area of the settlement’s Access Node with the settlement’s RIX.


  • The delimitation points of the service are:
    • The OTE Rural South manhole of the settlement’s Access Node or the end user or Provider’s POP, depending on the type of service.
    • The settlement’s relative RIX

The Ethernet services are provided at capacities up to 1 Gbps, according to the following table:

  • Service prerequisites:
    • Contract between OTE Rural South and the Provider 
    • The provider should receive Hosting services at the settlement's RIX and should be interconnected with the OTE Rural South network through the “RIX-Ethernet Connection” service.
    • There should be network availability and feasibility of providing the service if Optical Access to the end-user or provider POP is required.
  • Minimum provision term:
    • 1 year
